Have You Lost Your Blooms?

Last year our fruit trees were loaded with fruit. I gave away as much as I could to whomever would come take it but still my freezers are full from the abundance of fruit. This year as I walked the property expecting to see the same thing, buds galore I found hardly any, a few here and there on some trees and not a one on others. The not so hard winter and the cold frosts late in the season have destroyed or never allowed the blooms to appear. Alas no fruit from the blooms this year.

My own life has been much like that this past year, a time of upheaval and change. We moved into a new home as well as many other things took place and in all of that I lost my blooms as well. I was in a cold winter place dry and parched separated from the water of the word and my God. Not intentionally of course but just a gradual replacement of Him with other things, distractions and business that slowly crept in separating me from my source. Have you ever been there?

They crept in so slowly like the cold darkness of winter destroying the new buds, killing them before they had time to produce the bloom from which the fruit would grow. I looked much like my fruit trees do now, no flowers, no promise of fruit and much like this poor hydrangea I’d forgotten to water. How about you? Are you feeling or looking a little like this hydrangea as well?

Praise God that He doesn’t leave us in that state. Slowly like the spring rains He has been watering me with His word. He has allowed me a season of rest just as my fruit trees will receive this year so that my fruit trees and I are able once again to produce fruit for our gardeners, I for the Master Gardener and they for their humble homeowner.

Praise God I look like this hydrangea bloom now instead of the previous one. It’s amazing what a little water and time will do for the blooms and what a little water of the word and time with Him does for us.

Do you need some rest and rehydration? Return to the well, drink fully from the source. Allow Him and His word to fill you full again, until you are as full of the water of His word as those hydrangea blooms are of water, filled to over flowing; until you are soft and pliable again. Filled to over flowing with His Holy Spirit, full of life again ready to once again produce the fruit the Master Gardener is waiting for.

Matt 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Oh Beth , I’ve been in that dry, parched place a few times in my life. I am so grateful that our Lord never leaves us and is right there with us, just waiting for us to reach out to Him. I wasn’t aware that you had moved – I hope not too far. I haven’t seen you much in the last year but I was sure you were busy and that you were. Hopefully you will enjoy the abundance of summer, lifting your spirits and providing you with hope no matter what comes your way. Hugs and God’s blessings to you this day, In His Love, Alona

Thank you Sue. I’ve enjoyed leading the small group. All the women have such hearts for God. It certainly has been a blessing to me to spend time with you and the other ladies. I look forward to continuing. ;)
