Nest Building

This morning as I sat down to spend some time with God I was distracted by these two beautiful doves that have commandeered our pine tree for their new abode. They are my favorite birds. God knows I love to hear their coos so I just consider it a special gift from Him that I can now sit in my livingroom every morning and listen to them converse with one another.  As I watched them working so cooperatively together to create this wonderful home for themselves I thought about Tim and I and our home projects. Currently a porch redo replacing screens with rails. They are creating their little nest and so are we. I’ve always been about making everything welcoming and inviting for our family and friends, hence the porch project. If you are family or friend come on over when it’s finished and we will watch the world go by together. ;)

I’ve always wanted our family to feel like no matter what they have encountered in this world that if they could just make it to the front door they would sigh a sigh of relief knowing that through that door everything changes. The world is shut out and love is let in.

Maybe God feels the same way toward His family. He says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” What an awesome invitation. Way better than mine, but you are still welcome to visit. ;)
