Protecting Your Seedlings

With these unusually warm temperatures lately I have been spending quite a bit of time in my garden getting it ready for the growing season. I even was so optimistic as to plant my vegetable garden but as I checked the weather I saw that a killing frost was coming last night so I brought my containers in and to protect my seedlings I covered them with plastic saving them from certain death. In the morning as the sun warmed them under their blanket of plastic they just seemed to smile at me as if to say “Thank you.” I smiled right back at them knowing I did everything I could to keep them safe.

As I thought about that this morning I thought you know we also have to protect our spiritual seeds in much the same way. As we sow our seeds of faith and hope we need to protect them with the word of God to give them an opportunity to grow.

I must admit that sometimes I forget that and when I do forget that it’s like a killing frost descending on my unprotected seedlings causing unforetold damage to their growth or even worse complete death but when I remember the word it’s like placing a blanket of protection over my unsuspecting seedlings keeping them safe and warm from the cold night frost. Without the protection of the word doubt and unbelief can creep in like a killing frost destroying all that has been planted in us by God.

Protect your precious seedlings of faith and hope with the word of God. Spread it out over them like a blanket covering them keeping them safe and warm with the blanket of the word and let them grow to their fullness.
