True Riches

On our drive home from church Sunday we were again contending with little black and brown wooly bears in the road. I was saying to Tim, “There’s one don’t hit it, I mean squish it. ” What a wonderful husband I have. What patience he has with me but I believe possibly he was having a hard time seeing the caterpillars. To me they were plain as day but to Tim not so much because he squashed one. After that there was a long silence in the car and as he turned to look at me tears were just rolling down my cheeks. He said to me in such a tender voice ”What is wrong?” I really wasn’t sure myself. They are just caterpillars but I said “I think it’s that yes they are just caterpillars and they are so little and insignificant to humans but I think there are people in this world that feel that way.”

We all have people in our lives who try to make us feel like we don’t belong, that we are insignificant and that we don’t matter; but every life matters, especially to God. God said in Luke 16:11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? I think that possibly God’s true riches are people. I know that is not the traditional thought of God’s true riches but He gave His most precious for them, His Son. If they are His true riches then every one is important to God. Every hair on their head is numbered by God (Matt 10:30), every tear they shed is collected by God (Psalm 56:8), before they were born He knew them and established each and every one of their days (Psalm 139), His thoughts are precious toward them. (Psalm 139:17)

Let them know they are loved by an awesome God and that they are not insignificant and that they do matter particularly to God. He loves all people and wants them all to be His sons and daughters but He especially loves His children. They are the ones that love Him and talk about Him it says in Mal 3:16 and they shall be His special jewels He says in Mal 3:17.

If people are God’s true riches shouldn’t we handle them with care? Just a thought.

Thank you Father for teaching me every day. I so need it. ;)

    Beth,
As I read this I can hear the tenderness and love in both your’s and Tim’s hearts. And we know that tenderness and love is so magnified beyond our understand when is comes to the way God feels about His own children. I believe that this emotion that I can sense as I read is the exact feeling that satan intends to strip from our hearts, without that sense of love satan knows that most of us become hopeless. He lost all his hope when he was thrown out of heaven and will stop at nothing to strip us of that hope he forfeited.
But Jesus will come to…Deliver us at His coming. Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.
