What Are You Worth?

My two wonderful daughters and I recently attended a luncheon for one of my nieces. It was a beautiful summer day. We had a pleasant lunch at a lovely restaurant by the lakeside. There was much chatting and good fun. After lunch my sister-in-law treated us to a relaxing boat ride on the lake sharing the history and stories of the owners of the homes on the lake. We passed one home belonging to the heir to the Anheuser Busch fortune, at that moment one of my nieces shared a story about a time when she was working at a café and a woman and a young child came in and ordered lunch and when they had left one of her coworkers said to her “That child has no idea his worth.” Apparently the child was an heir to the Anheuser Busch fortune. As I pondered that I thought “What is the true value of a soul?” Do we as children of the King have any idea of our worth?

That child that was heir to the Anheuser Busch fortune may have been worth millions in paper dollars but that is nothing compared to the worth of a child of the King whose inheritance is priceless. All that our Father has belongs to us and He gives it to us freely although it cost Him dearly, the price being His one and only Son. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes (pisteuo-trusts in, relies on, has faith in, is fully convinced of) in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

That is what The King was willing to pay and that is the value of a soul.

The child to the Anheuser Busch fortune inherits paper dollars, buildings, companies, real estate and other earthly temporal things. Prov 23:5 For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.

All of Gods promises are yes and Amen in Christ it says in 2 Cor 1:20. When we become a child of the King through receiving Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord we receive the entire Kingdom. It is the Fathers good pleasure to give us the Kingdom it says in Luke 12:32, part of that Kingdom being the Holy Spirit, wisdom, power, the fruits and gifts of the Spirit and eternal life; so much more precious than gold or silver or any earthly thing that we could imagine.

What can we say to a love like that but thank you Father for loving your children with such extravagant grace.
